Attention all bookworms: The Livingston County Library is hosting its annual book sale and thousands of titles in all genres are just waiting to be plucked off the shelves and perused at your leisure.
The sale for the general public actually begins Monday, April 23 and runs through Saturday, April 28. However, Friends of the Library members are getting a sneak peak today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday).
According to Robin Westphal, library director, her staff has organized and priced literally thousands of books (a year-long) process in preparation for the annual event which raised $1,500 for the Friends of the Library.
However, Westphal explained that this year's sale is likely to exceed that total because just last (Thursday) night, the sale made over $900.
“We have a better selection of books this year and I think we've advertised (the sale) better,” Westphal explained.
Just walking along the aisles of the sale, one can find a wide, wide range of titles including the well-known novel, “The Thorn birds,” by Colleen MuCullough, and others not so well known, like Marjorie Barkley McClure's, “The Bush that Burned,” published in 1925.
There's also Harold Robins' “The Carpetbagers,” published in 1961 and thrillers from well-known authors like Michael Crichton. For the romance novel-lover, books written by authors including Mary Higgins Clark, Sandra Brown and Danielle Steel are available. There's also books on more down-to-earth subjects, like “The Complete Dog Buyers' Guide,” and “Poultry and Poultry Keeping.” For history buffs, there's also a wide-range of titles to choose from, including “The Official Warren Commission Report of the Assassination of John F. Kennedy.”
